Why adult-only camping in Somerset is the Perfect Escape
Somerset Camping Blog
There's a particular kind of quiet we all can benefit from. Not silence but birdsong, the creak of guy ropes, a distant wood pigeon - a quality of stillness that most campsites simply don't offer. At Batcombe Vale, that quiet is the whole point.
We're one of a small number of genuinely adult-only campsites in Somerset, and it shapes everything: the pace of the mornings, the atmosphere around the fire pit in the evenings, the way guests tend to actually talk to each other.

AN EVENING CELEBRATING IN THE GLOW OF A KADAI FIREBOWL
What makes adult-only different in practice?
It's about curating an experience for people who want unhurried mornings, evenings relaxing by a firebowl, and the freedom to leave the noise of daily life genuinely behind. Just 30 pitches, no entertainment programme, no tannoy. You bring what you need. The site does the rest.

THE LAKE AT SUNSET
Batcombe is the right setting for it
Within 30 minutes of your pitch, you have Hauser & Wirth, The Newt in Somerset, Stourhead, and Bruton's increasingly brilliant food scene. But you don't have to go anywhere. The lake, the dark skies, and the hills rolling toward Glastonbury are enough. Many guests tell us they barely leave the site.
Bring your dog
Dogs are genuinely welcome here. The surrounding countryside is perfect walking territory, and the relaxed atmosphere means your dog will decompress as much as you.

SOMERSET LANES BEYON THE CAMPSITE ARE YOURS TO EXPLORE.
At Batcombe Vale, adult-only camping is about more than fewer distractions - it’s about creating space for proper rest, good company and the kind of Somerset escape that feels both unhurried and memorable. With dogs welcome and a beautiful setting near Bruton, it’s a retreat that lets the landscape do the talking.
