Frequently Asked Questions

Is the campsite child friendly/safe?

Yes, as long as common sense is used. Please be aware that the campsite is positioned near a series of lakes. There is plenty of open space on the campsite for children to play safely under the supervision of responsible parents.  Your children are your responsibility, not ours, so please keep an eye on them.

Do you allow dogs?

Yes, we love dogs and are a dog friendly site. You can bring up to 2 dogs (3 by prior arrangement if we are not busy). We ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times. There is a small charge of £3 per day per dog.  Please make sure you clean up after your dog and use the bins in the recycling area. Thank you.

We want to book a pitch next to our friends, how do we do this?

When booking online via our website, please state your friends’ name(s) in the “Any Questions?’ box on our booking form. If you do this, we will know to pitch you together.

Can I make a group booking?

We accept small groups of up to 3 units. Larger groups would be by prior arrangement only. Please do not book online without getting in touch with us first. We do not take big group celebrations, Stag or Hen parties.

Can I book more than one pitch?

Yes, each pitch can be booked separately using our online website booking form. Simply complete your first booking and the booking system will then ask you if you would like to make a second booking and so on.

What units do you accept?

We take motorhomes, campervans and caravans up to 7m in length and tents up to 7m x 5m in size. Any tent greater than this, please get in touch directly as we may be able to accommodate you if we have space during low season.

Is there a minimum booking period?

We have a Minimum Booking Period of 3 nights for Bank Holidays and 2 nights at all other times.

What time can we check-in?

Check-in is after 2pm and before 8pm.

Can I arrive earlier than 2pm for my pitch?

You will not be able to check-in or pitch before 2pm.
As we are a small campsite, we do have a parking area if guests arrive early to wait to check-in.

Can I arrive later than 8pm?

If you want to arrive later than 8pm, please call first to check that this will be ok.

What time is check-out and can I check-out late?

Check-out is by 11am prompt. However, a late check-out is possible if your pitch is not booked for later that day and there is a charge of £4 per person to stay until 2pm. Please ask at reception if this is possible.

Will my SatNav take me to you?

Yes, if you have an up to date SatNav, it will take you to the top of the campsite drive. Simply take the drive down the hill to reach the campsite.

How do I find out about things to do and local events taking place during my stay?

Our reception carries extensive information about what to do and what is on in the area and our campsite wardens will also be able to assist.

Do you allow firebowls and BBQs?

We allow firebowls and BBQs as long as they are sufficiently raised off the ground to not burn the grass. If you have a firebowl or BBQ that is low to the ground, please ask to borrow bricks from us on arrival.

You can also rent a firebowl from us. The cost of a firebowl, a bag of logs and kindling is £15 in total for the first night and thereafter the firebowl is free. If you need to buy wood, the cost of a bag of kiln-dried ash is £7.

We don't allow disposable BBQs and we don't have our own BBQs onsite.

What is your policy on noise?

We are a quiet campsite. Out of respect for all our guests, we do not allow loud noise, amplified music, noisy types or inconsiderate behaviour at any time. Whatever you are playing must be turned off at 10pm. We have a strict ‘no noise after 11pm’ policy.  Low level fireside chatter is fine but singing, loud voices and shouting is not, even when drinking. If you want to stay up late partying then this is not the right campsite for you.

Do we need to reserve the rowing boats and what is the cost?

The use of the boats is free and there is no need to reserve. It is on a first come basis. We have life jackets available and children must be supervised by their adults at all times.

Can we swim in the lakes or bring our own paddleboards, kayaks or boats?

Bathing, paddling or getting in the water is not allowed. Guests' paddleboards, kayaks or boats are not allowed on the Boating Lake.

Our booking at Batcombe Vale is within the next 14 days but the weather looks terrible can we move the dates?

Unfortunately moving your booking now would be classed as a cancellation with no refund given. We regret that the weather is not within our control and we cannot refund any money due to adverse weather conditions.

What is your cancellation policy?

For any cancellation made up to 28 days before arrival a Cancellation Charge equivalent to the pitch fee for the Minimum Booking Period will be retained and 100% of the balance of the booking payment will be refunded. For any cancellation of between 28 days and 14 days of arrival 50% of the balance of the booking payment will be refunded. For any cancellation made within 14 days of arrival no refunds will be given.
