About Batcombe Vale
Hidden within a secluded 120-acre Somerset valley, we've chosen to keep our campsite intentionally small. With just 30 spacious pitches, we make sure you have the physical space to camp comfortably, the quiet to slow down, and a complete break from daily life.
Generous pitches sit beneath mature trees, beside the lake or overlooking the wildflower meadow.
We could have added more pitches - but we'd rather protect the character of the valley than grow the site to fit more people.
A Place to Properly Switch Off
Batcombe Vale is reserved for guests aged 16 and over.
Over the years, so many people have told us they come here for the peace and tranquility. Becoming adult-only felt like the right next step.
Days slow down.
Evenings become quieter.
The valley settles into its own gentle rhythm.
Nature Leads the Way
Batcombe Vale sits within 120 acres of working Somerset countryside. Friesian cattle graze in the fields around the valley, hares and pheasants move through the grass, and birds of prey circle overhead. On quieter evenings, wild deer sometimes wander down from the woods.
Fresh spring water from our private borehole supplies every tap on site, naturally filtered straight through the hills.
We manage the site sustainably - read more here.
Secluded, Yet Close to Everything
Although wonderfully hidden, we're the closest campsite to Bruton, with a direct 45 minute cross-country walking route into town.
Hauser & Wirth, The Newt, Stourhead and Longleat are all within easy reach before returning to the peace of the valley.
It's a rare combination - complete seclusion when you want it, with exceptional places to visit when you don't.
A Place People Return To
For over forty years, Batcombe Vale has welcomed guests looking to step away from busy lives and into something quieter.
The greatest compliment we receive isn't an award - it's welcoming familiar faces back year after year.
"We have just returned from our fifth visit to Batcombe Vale and can never fault it."
- BazR, Tripadvisor
We're honoured to have been named Best Campsite in Somerset on Channel 4's The Perfect Pitch, but it is our returning guests who matter most.
Guests return because the valley remains reassuringly familiar.
Quiet. Unhurried. Unchanged.
We Look Forward to Welcoming You
Whether it's your first visit or your fifth, we hope you'll discover what generations of guests already have.
