Yes, there is a 3-night minimum for Bank Holidays and 2 nights at all other times.

Yes, as long as you let us know ahead of arrival and as long as we are able. When booking online via our website, please state your friends’ surname(s) in the “Any Questions?’ box on our booking form. If you do this, we will know that you would like to be pitched together.

During quieter periods we welcome small groups of up to three units by prior arrangement - please get in touch to discuss.

We don’t accept large group celebrations, stag or hen parties, as they are not suited to the peaceful nature of the site.

• More than 28 days: full refund minus a £25 administration fee.
• 14–28 days: 50% refund of remaining balance.
•  Within 14 days: no refund.

Changing dates within 14 days of arrival is treated as a cancellation and we're unable to offer a refund. Much as we'd love to help, the weather is sadly beyond our control. We'd strongly recommend camping-specific travel insurance when booking, which can cover weather-related cancellations.

Batcombe Vale became adult-only because so many guests told us the same thing — they needed somewhere to properly stop. It's what keeps the valley calm and unhurried for everyone here.

Guests aged 16-17 are very welcome when accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or a responsible adult aged 21+.

Yes, we’re a dog-friendly site and love welcoming well-behaved and quiet dogs.

• Up to 2 dogs per pitch (3 by prior arrangement if we’re quiet)
• £3 per dog, per day
• Dogs must be kept on leads at all times
• Please exercise dogs away from pitches
• Please clean up promptly and use the bins in the recycling area.

Yes, a number of electric hook-up pitches are available (10amps) and can be selected at the time of booking.

Yes, an up-to-date SatNav will bring you to the top of our clearly signposted drive. From there, follow the track down to the campsite.

Please stop at the reception hut to be welcomed, checked-in and be shown to your allocated pitch. If there is no one at reception, please call the main number (01749 372373). Please never proceed onto the campsite without checking-in, even if you are staying with others who have already arrived.

If you expect to arrive after 8pm, please call us in advance to check.  

Check-out is by 11am prompt. However, a late check-out is possible if your pitch is not booked for later that day - there is a charge of £6/non electric or £7/electric to stay until 2pm. Please ask at reception if this is possible.

Each pitch has space for your tent and one car within our size limits.

Our hot showers are free and operated by push-button.

Batcombe Vale is designed to be a genuine digital detox so there is deliberately no WiFi - one of the few places left where the default is to look up rather than down.

The good news is that all major networks have 4G coverage on site, and EE users will find 5G available - so you won't feel completely cut off from the world. You'll just find you don't reach for it as often as you thought.

Yes, absolutely! You’re welcome to bring your own fire bowl or non-disposable BBQ and enjoy it on your pitch.

For safety, fires and BBQs need to be in a suitable metal container, kept well away from tents and awnings, and raised off the ground so the grass underneath isn’t damaged. They must also be supervised whenever they’re hot.

Disposable BBQs aren’t permitted at any time.

Please never dispose of ash around the site or in the green waste bins. Once completely cool, ash can be placed in the dedicated silver bin next to the main bins.

Can I hire a fire bowl?

Yes! If you’d rather not bring your own, you can hire one of our fire bowl kits for £10 for the first night. This includes the fire bowl, a bag of logs and kindling.  After the first night, the fire bowl is free to use for the rest of your stay, however long you’re here.

If you need more wood, additional bags of kiln-dried wood are £8. Please don’t take or collect wood from anywhere on the campsite or in the surrounding fields.

Can I cook on the fire bowl?

Our fire bowls are intended for enjoying the fire rather than cooking. They’re perfect for keeping warm and toasting marshmallows, but please don’t use them for cooking or add a grill or cooking grate. If you’d like to cook outdoors, you’re very welcome to bring a separate, reusable BBQ.

What do I do with the fire bowl when I leave?

Nothing at all! There’s no need to empty, clean or tidy the fire bowl. Just leave it on your pitch or return it to where you collected it, and we’ll take care of everything for you.

• Restful Quiet Hours: Strict quiet hours apply between 11:00 pm and 8:00 am.
• Sleep Guarantee: Quiet hours ensure an undisturbed, perfect night’s sleep for all.
• Daytime Noise: Please keep voices low and chat quietly throughout the day. Friendly reminders apply equally to friends and families travelling together.
• No Loud Behaviour: Please avoid boisterous or loud behaviour at any time of day.

We used to offer boats and fishing, and many of our returning guests will remember them fondly. Today, the lake is a dedicated wildlife habitat, left quiet for the herons, dragonflies and the occasional kingfisher, and we wouldn't have it any other way. It remains the peaceful heart of the vale, just enjoyed differently now: for watching, listening, and quiet contemplation rather than boats or fishing.

To protect our delicate ecosystem and ensure everyone's safety, swimming, paddling, and watercraft, including paddleboards and kayaks, are not permitted on the water. This helps keep our lakes a quiet, undisturbed sanctuary for the local wildlife.

Batcombe Vale is blessed with wonderfully dark skies, free from the heavy light pollution of towns and cities. On clear nights, the valley transforms into a spectacular window to the cosmos, offering breathtaking views of the stars, planets, and the Milky Way.

To help preserve this natural wonder and protect our nocturnal wildlife, we keep outdoor lighting to an absolute minimum. We highly recommend stepping outside after dusk to experience the quiet magic of the night sky - and don't forget to pack a torch for moving around safely.

There are many beautiful walks directly from the site - maps and recommendations can be found at reception.

Bruton - only a couple of miles away - has several convenience stores, a cashpoint and a petrol station. The closest supermarkets are in Shepton Mallet and Frome, 15 mins drive away.
