Batcombe Vale is a family-run adult only campsite in Somerset, tucked into a beautiful private vale just outside Bruton. For over 40 years we have welcomed guests to our terraced pitches, tranquil lake and miles of peaceful countryside. Because we keep the site deliberately small, it feels genuinely like a home from home.

Why adult-only?
Batcombe Vale has always done things quietly and at its own pace - and becoming adult-only felt like a natural next step. Over the years, more and more guests told us the same thing: that what they needed most was somewhere to properly stop. We listened, and we're glad we did.
We wanted to create a place where you arrive carrying the week and leave feeling like yourself again. When everyone on site is here for the same thing - rest, stillness, nature and a proper break - something shifts. The pace slows, the evenings open up and the whole valley seems to breathe more easily.
Evenings at Batcombe Vale are gently low-key. Stargazing, a relaxed supper, a good book and an early night under some of Somerset's darkest skies. Our guests tell us it's exactly what they came for - and often exactly what they didn't know they needed.
Think long reads, unhurried walks, good conversation and simply sitting with the view across the vale. The kind of break that feels like a proper rest.
A new chapter
We loved welcoming families over the years and many happy memories were made here. This is simply a new chapter - Batcombe Vale as a retreat for adults wanting some time out.
